The NDA Entomology Lab provides identification of arthropods, including insects and related organisms, submitted by the public, agricultural producers, and government agencies. The lab’s services are limited to the identification of arthropod specimens and do not include testing for human or animal diseases.
The lab does not accept nor have the capability to process non-entomological materials or unrelated substances, including but not limited to: materials from human bodies or clothing, vertebrate animals or pets, building materials, environmental debris without visible arthropods, animal nests, droppings, remains, household waste, or unknown substances or powders (with or without strong odor) submitted for purposes other than arthropod identification.
The NDA Entomology Lab does not accept any human-derived samples, including skin, hair, clothing, bodily waste, or similar materials. Individuals with concerns involving potential medical or dermatological conditions should seek evaluation from a licensed medical professional.
